Better coffee this easy?

I've never roasted coffee beans at home. I always thought it was complicated and required equipment I didn't want to buy. This concise, handy guide to roasting coffee set everything straight.
Roasting at home can be done quickly and easily. Also, thanks to the book, I now understand where coffee gets its flavor - and where it loses it. Once people understand that, it changes the way you look at coffee. Roasting makes a lot of sense and this guide walks you through several easy ways to do it, plus how to store them, etc. Everything you need to make better coffee in a quick, easy way. It also includes some more advanced ideas for DIYers. There are sections on coffee flavors, tasting, and beans from different countries.
The book has an easy, conversational style. There's no attitude or judgment, no coffee snobbery, but instead it offers options and information and lets every reader get into roasting as little or as much as they wish. The author's love for coffee comes through clearly and their enthusiasm rubbed off on me!

This is a great starting place

I've wanted to learn more about the "art" of roasting but have been a bit intimidated by all the fancy equipment that I see used in local coffee houses and on the internet. I've been told all about how much difference freshly roasted makes in the taste and have wanted to experience it without investing a ton of money. Matt Milner demystifies the roasting process and does a great job of explaining the simple options as well as the more expensive equipment and why it might, at some point, make sense to invest in the higher end automatic roasting machines. There is a very good commentary on the various coffee regions from around the world and the type of coffee that is produced in each region. All-in-all, I found this book to provide all that I needed, and more, to make an informed choice about how to move into the world of coffee roasting.

my first roast

Never roasted coffee before until today, and I succeeded quite well in roasting a batch that my Colombian wife adores, reminding her if her youth when her grandmother roasted coffee in a pan over an open fire. Delicious.
