Michael Miller has written more than 100 non-fiction books over the past two decades. Collectively, his books have sold more than one million copies. Many of his books build on his experience as a musician, which includes a stint at the Indiana University School of Music's prestigious Jazz Studies program, as well as many years as a working musician. A composer for the past 18 years and a music enthusiast since 1976, Robert Guerin has worked on different personal and professional projects, such as feature and short films, television themes, and educational and corporate videos. As a professor, Robert has put together several courses covering a wide range of topics, such as computer software for musicians, digital audio technologies, sound on the Web, sound in multimedia productions, hard disk recording, and many more. He has been program coordinator at Trebas Institute in Montreal and a part-time professor at Vanier College, also in Montreal. Robert has developed online courses on sound integration in Web pages and has written several articles, tutorials, and software reviews for audio and music related online magazines. Robert has authored five editions of CUBASE POWER! He has also written two editions of MIDI POWER! and co-wrote NUENDO POWER!

A must have with Cubase 6 software

Of all the books out there on Steinberg's Cubase 6; this book is the best. Why? The most important aspect of this book is that it defines some of Steinberg's terminology. Why is this important? Primarily it helps in understanding Steinberg's pdf manual and it helps the user understand the program. Some of these terms are opaque to the novice and ambiguous to intermediate engineers. By defining the terms the book opens up the Steinberg pdf. For the general to intermediate you will probably never have to reference the pdf. When you know the terminology and there is something not covered by this book you will now understand what Steinberg's pdf means.
I have used various versions of Cubase since VST24 and still find this book very useful. The book is written in a semi-tutorial style. It is not a step-by-step tutorial by any means. However, it does tell you what a feature does and tells you how to access it. For example, it will tell you what a vst effect does and tells you how to put it in a send or insert. The book will also give the reader the reason why to choose a send or insert slot. If you really need a step-by-step tutorial there are plenty out there but few will give you a strong understanding of the "why". Plus you can't just look something up in seconds and continue working.
I strongly recommend purchasing this book as a supplement to the pdf. No, that's not right it should be purchased as a replacement for the pdf. because 90% of what you need to know is in this book.

Everything you need for Cubase

When I bought Cubase, I wondered what I had gotten myself into. I bought this book immediately thereafter and am so glad. It puts everything in simple form and will have you composing in no time. Cubase is the most amazing software I have ever seen and this book is more important than the manual. Spend the extra money and get this!!

EXCELLENT reference!

It was virtually too costly to print the 700 page manual but this book covers everything you need to know about Cubase 6.
I imagine the book would would even be more productive if it came with a DVD with tutorials but just the fact that I have
an actual printed document makes reading so much easier and accessible especially when your working with the program.
